Akimbo Canvas Double Knee Painter Pants

We’re Akimbo Club out of Salt Lake City. Started with vintage workwear and sportswear, then got into making our own stuff. The double knee painter’s pants came from a pretty simple frustration. Everything out there was too stiff, too thin, or fit weird. So we just made our own.100% cotton canvas. Not the lightweight stuff you see on fast fashion shelves. This breaks in over time and molds how you move. After a few wears it stops feeling like new denim and starts feeling like your denim. That’s the whole point.

Double knee means there’s a second layer of canvas right over the knee. That’s where pants always blow out first when you’re kneeling or crouching. The extra panel takes that abuse so the rest of the pants don’t have to. Fit runs true to size, loose and relaxed. Not baggy. Just room where you need it. Unisex too so it works across body types.

Washing and Drying

Cold wash is gentle. Hot water shrinks cotton and fades dye. Turn them inside out if you want to protect the color. No bleach. It weakens the fibers and you’ll see it in the knees first.

Hang dry. Toss them over a line or a chair. If you need them fast, low heat in the dryer and pull them out slightly damp. Skipping the dryer keeps the fit consistent.

Spot clean when you can. Canvas doesn’t need the machine every week. Unless you’re covered in paint or mud, airing them out is fine.

One thing. These are washed, painted, and distressed in Los Angeles. Each pair comes with its own character. Some fading, some texture variation. That’s intentional. They keep evolving the more you wear them.

What Goes With Them

Almost anything.

Sizing

True to size. Loose, relaxed fit. Between sizes and want it closer? Size down. Want maximum room? Stay true or go up.

Waist sits where you’d expect. Inseam runs 30 to 34 depending on waist size. Leg opening around 10.5 to 11.5 inches so there’s room over boots without dragging.

Questions People Ask

Do they shrink?
100% cotton so some shrinkage if you wash hot. Cold wash and hang dry and you’re fine.

Can I dry them?
You can. Low heat, take them out a little damp. Hang drying is better for the fabric though.

Good for actual work?
Yes. The double knee is there for a reason. Holds up to kneeling and crouching. Not flame resistant or anything specialized but for general labor and painting they handle it.

Different from regular painter pants?
Double knee reinforcement, heavier canvas, and the wash treatment. Regular ones are single-layer and lighter. These arrive broken instead of stiff.

Unisex?
Yes.

Do they fade over time?
They can, and that’s normal. Canvas fades with wear and washing. Think of it as the pants telling your story, not a defect.

What if the size is wrong?
