Wash

Wash outside gently, with cold water. Do not zip anything on the zipper, unless it is an Akimbo Zip Up, in which case zip it first. Mild detergent only. No bleach. No fabric softener. Softener coats the cotton fibers and gradually robs them of their softness.

Dry

Hang it. Lay it flat. Do not put it into the dryer. Cotton will shrink and lay flat when heated. Direct sunlight will sour the colors, dry it in the shade.

Inter-wash

Hoodies don’t require to be washed after every use. Spot-clean small marks. Air it out. For most hoodies you can wash every five to six wears, and it’s particularly true if you’re trying to make a worn-in hoodie look worn-in. Pilling around cuffs and under the arms is fine with brushed cotton. The fabric shaver does the job in no time. Do not touch your hands.

No. The fade is a part of the fabric finishing process. It will become a bit softer with time but, this will keep the color through cold washing and drying in the air. Even fading and shrinkage is caused by hot water or machine drying.

Will this hoodie shrink when washed in the dryer?

Yes, it can. Cotton and heat don’t mix well. Dry hanging or flat to maintain the fit and texture. Use the lowest setting if you have no choice but to use a dryer and remove it before it is even dry.

Does the Russell cut fit the bill?

It is true to size and comfortable. When you are in the middle of sizes, go up to get the feel of a larger size or down to get the feel of a smaller size. The size chart is an accurate size guide.

How many times a day do I need to wash it?

It’s changed every 5 or 6 wears or when it’s needed. Spot clean between washes if necessary, for small marks. Brushed cotton wears out more quickly when it is subjected to over washing.

What if it pills?

It is normal for brushed cotton that it pills. Gently shave on affected areas with a fabric shaver. Don’t pull at the pills with your hands.
